Students in the McCormick Barstow Law Lab examine the American legal system and its impact on every American's life. Students will explore the current state of the law in the United States. Students will also consider America's influence in a global setting. Potential careers include law enforcement officer, politician, attorney, judge, paralegal, lobbyist and legislator. Students conduct community-based research and work with mentors from the legal community. The projects enable students to explore broad legal topics including lawmaking, constitutional law, criminal law and civil law. Students will develop their argumentation skills in all of the projects. The projects also allow students to play the roles of various professionals in the legal field, including campaign managers, appellate attorneys, trial lawyers and civil litigators. |
